The Draeger Pac 3500 single gas monitor detects and displays dangerous carbon monoxide (CO) with a measuring range of 0-500 ppm and a resolution down to 1 ppm. It's the miniature XXS sensor used in the Pac 3500 that really makes it stand out. With famous detection ability, the sensor can be used for the full two-year detector lifespan without ever needing calibration.

Our customers love how durable and easy to use this CO monitor is. It's coated with rubber, making it resistant to corrosive chemicals as well as impacts and features a durable D-ring clip. Two buttons control all language-free functions, perfect for quick-glance checks. Should it come into contact with harmfully high (50 ppm) or low (35 ppm) levels of CO, the monitor alerts you three different ways: vibrating, flashing 360 degree LEDs, and sounding a multi-tone 90 dB alarm. Unlike many competitive CO monitors, however, is the Pac 3500 doesn't just alert you when you've encountered a dangerous level, but provides you constant readings of present carbon monoxide levels so you have more information.

Draeger sensor technology can be found everywhere from our nation's leading hospitals to oil rigs. The company is trusted widely for making the most accurate detection equipment around.

    what PPM levels does this unit alarm at?
    does it have different alarm sounds and/or types for different CO levels?

      The Pac 3500 for CO goes into alarm at 35 ppm and 50 ppm as it is shipped standard from Draeger. This meets OSHA standards in all but one state - California.<br>
      <br>
      Cal-OSHA specifies the CO alarms must sound at 25 ppm and 50 ppm. <br>

      Draeger can change these settings at the factory. Simply make a note during ordering, or contact PK Safety Customer Service at 1-800-829-9580. It may take an extra day at most for delivery if these changes are made at the factory.

    What type of battery is required, and how long does it last?

      The Pac 3500 uses a Lithium battery (part number 4543808). This battery is designed to last slightly longer than the entire two-year life of the monitor when used 8 hours per day, and going into alarm 1 minute per day. This rate was determined at an average external temperature of 77 degrees.

    What happens at the end of two years? Is the unit trash, or can you replace batteries and filters and continue using?

      The Pac 3500 is a disposable 2-year monitor. This has become a popular option in the industry because companies like to have monitors that don’t need to be calibrated, and replacement costs are predictable because they know when the units expire.<br>
      <br>
      If you’re looking for a lifetime monitor – one with replaceable batteries and sensors - consider the <a href="{{store direct_url="draeger-pac-7000-co-monitor.html"}}">Draeger Pac 7000 Monitor for CO</a>.

    Can the Draeger Pac 3500 Carbon Monoxide (CO) Single Gas Monitor 4543957 be left turned on all the time? If so will the battery last 2 years? We would like to clip them to our EMS bags so they are always with us on first aid calls, always on without someone having to remember to turn it on.

      The Pac 3500 monitors do not run continually for 2 years. If they run for 7 hours per day with one minute spent in alarm they will last for 2 years. That's how Draeger explains their battery life estimates. <br>
      <br>
      It sounds like what you're looking for is an alarm if CO levels reach dangerous levels. If you don't need the constant readout of the CO concentration levels, consider the <a href="https://www.pksafety.com/bw-honeywell-gas-alert-clip-extreme-co-portable-gas-monitor.html">BW Honeywell GasAlert Clip Extreme for CO</a> or their <a href="https://www.pksafety.com/bw-gasalert-extreme-co-monitor.html">GasAlert Extreme for CO</a> which has replaceable batteries and displays gas concentrations.

    If I use this for less than the 7 hr per day, will it last for more than 2 years?

      The Drager Pac 3500 is a 2 year ‘disposable’ monitor. Once the gas detector has been activated, a 2 year countdown begins. At the end of 2 years, the unit shuts off. We can’t do anything to change that.

    Once a high level of CO is detected, does it use the vibration, lights, and alarm all at the same time? Is there a way to turn each method of alert on/off individually?

      I checked with tech support at Draeger, and the Pac 3500 alarms (light, sound and vibration) cannot be turned off or manipulated. If you don’t want the alarms to sound, the alarm set point can be changed to higher values. The Draeger Communication Module allows you to communicate with the detector on your PC computer, and adjust at what point the alarms will sound. The software for this accessory is available for free download from the Drager web site.

    Is it (Draeger Pac 3500 Carbon Monoxide [CO] Single Gas Monitor 4543957) battery operated? Why do we need the calibration gas? Is the calibration gas required?

      The Monitor is battery operated. The unit doesn't need to be calibrated but it does need to be bump tested periodically. You would need the calibration equipment to perform the bump test.
